Whether it be a portrait, a pet, a home, or a favorite landscape, I welcome commissions. Prices for commissions are anywhere from 1 1/2 to twice the easel painting price, depending on the assignment.
My favorite kind of portrait is one where the subject is in a setting that reflects their personality, nature, and lifestyle. This would be distinct from the more typical 'posed' portrait, where the sitter is more formally dressed and posed.
I think of these as 'paintings that happen to contain the subject,' paintings that are paintings first, and portraits second.
My special commission offer is this:
You designate the subject (person, pet, place), and any information/aspect you wish to convey, and I get to paint the painting as I choose. Limited adjustments to the finished painting would be accepted, but I reserve the right to determine when the painting is 'done' (so I might say 'no' to a requested change).
In return for the freedom to work this way, I would offer the painting at the easel painting price, with no obligation to purchase it. If for any reason you choose not to buy the painting, I will be free to show it on my site or in a gallery, and make it available at the regular purchase price.
